Take Action!
...don't lose your faith!
James 2:18
18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
It is almost certain that at least one preacher stood behind a pulpit this past Sunday and declared something along the lines of “don’t lose your faith!” This statement is very common across Christianity. We all want to have faith. We all have faith in different things. I have faith that when I get into my car, place the key into the ignition and turn it properly, that the car will start. I have faith that the sun will rise and I even have faith that it will set.
We all place our faith into something or someone. Sometimes the very thing we put our faith in may not place it’s faith into us.
When proposed the question, “Do you believe in God?” a modern day philosopher typically responds with something like, “I act as if He exists.” At first glance this answer almost seems to dodge the question. While I do not agree entirely with the statement, I understand what the scholar is trying to say. Western culture has twisted what it truly means to believe (have faith) into something. Western culture has made it so easy to SAY “I believe this…”, “I believe in…”, yet act a different way. Now, it is almost better to talk about what we believe rather than actually acting out what we believe.
As a born again believer in Jesus Christ, my response to the above question is simple. “I believe in God AND I act as if He exist.”
Our words may mean nothing if our actions do not back our words.
John 14:15
15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments.
Jesus states to us here that if we love Him, act on it. Do not merely say that we love Him, but keep his commandments (action).
There are many times in my life where I needed the Lord to do a miracle. I cried out in faith and believed that He would make a way. I said “Lord I need you!” And when my actions began to support my words, God began to do a work!
Maybe today you are hurting, broken, in need of a Savior. I challenge you today to not lose your action. Keep the faith, and back your faith by your works!
God wants you to place your faith (trust, belief) in Him, but He also wants you to live (work, actions) in His commandments!
Don’t lose your faith…and take action!
